Arsenal Football Club assembles site
2004
Jones Day assisted Arsenal Football Club with the assembling of a site at Ashburton Grove, London N7, for the Club's new 60,000-seat stadium. Site assembly entailed the purchase for in excess of £50 million of land and buildings from more than 20 landowners and included complicated agreements with the London Borough of Islington and with North London Waste Authority whereby part of the stadium site is being acquired from them in exchange for replacement facilities being provided by AFC at Lough Road, and with Network Rail and the London Borough of Islington for the construction of two substantial pedestrian bridges crossing the railway and linking the stadium to Drayton Park and which will be owned by the Council. Part of the funding for the stadium is being provided by the sale of substantial residential development sites at Lough Road and Drayton Park to Wilson Connolly Limited and Newlon Limited.
